We’re always looking for people with the right abilities, skill-set and attitude to further develop our business - in fact we’ve often recruited when we haven’t been recruiting because we recognised these abilities.

We believe that our high staff retention levels reflect real job satisfaction made possible by a combination of the working environment, the variety and challenges of the work we undertake and the excellent rewards and benefits we offer.

We take a very flexible approach to the working day and are happy to adapt to meet anyone’s needs.

We have dedicated development and design studios, free parking and a central location which is just a 10 minute walk from Wigan town centre and its mainline rail station. There’s no such thing as a free lunch - except at bd2 as lunch is included for our staff with our own online ordering portal. It’s a tax free perk which saves £££s, we have a box of fresh fruit delivered from the local market every week - just help yourself and bean-to-cup coffee machines for real, fresh coffees. We recognise that our people are the most important part of the business so we offer a private health package and a company pension scheme of course.

We also provide structured training and mentoring support. We’re into government voucher schemes, including childcare vouchers and the cycle to work scheme, [we have a shower installed] as they’re really tax efficient and very helpful! We have recently added a fully equipped staff gym.

As well as random social events, such as summer BBQs in the car park, we all go out to a local restaurant once a quarter for a company lunch. We shut the offices for the whole festive period, gift some free holidays and take everyone away for a weekend. Oh, and we have our own craft beer bar ‘Sherrington’s’ right next door.

Finally, we have a completely open recruitment policy and are interested in talking to the right people regardless of race, religion, colour, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, disability, age and the football team you may support – yes, even Manchester United.

and what about those

no longer working at bd2?

Whilst we work very hard to make bd2 a great place to work - and we are very proud of our exceptional staff retention rates - we have to accept that for all kinds of reasons people do move on. In 25 years of trading we have inevitably seen some talented people we'd rather have stayed wander off into the sunset with our best wishes and thanks. However, once the leaving do is over and the tears are dried, we take great pride in the successes of former 'bd2ers' and hope that their experience here has helped them in their careers, many of which have progressed impressively.

The roles of former bd2 staff include the Head of IT at Parcel2go, Software Development Director at Saturn, Head of Transformation at Cegedim RX, Software Team Lead at AO.com, Head of Design at Motionlab, Lead Solutions Architect at The Very Group, Technical Architect at Dept, Senior Developer at Travel Republic, Creative Director at Burn The Book, Senior Developer at Keoghs, Senior Developer at Mando Group, Technical Architect at Sharp Gaming, Senior Software Developer at OvalX, DevOps Architect at Viewnext, Project Manager at Asda, Designers at Capital One, Software Developer at Eco Online Global and more.

Oh, and Phil retired!

And what did they say about us?

"It’s been a great 5 years working with you all, and I wish you all and bd2 the best for the future. I would have to say that bd2 has been the best job I have had in my career and that’s down all of you and the great environment at the company."

James S

"It's funny, over the years I've always subconsciously held Will and bd2 as the benchmark for an awesome employer/working environment. It's only been matched once in 28 years. I hope the team appreciate what an awesome company they work for ;)"
